Our Apartment '69-'70
We had our own hand-me-down TV and a house full of nice apartment furnishings.
Julia (my sister) and Tammy (mom's cousin) were attending BYU and came over for a house warming dinner.
We were really happy in our new little home.
In the early spring we went up Provo Canyon to Bridal Veil Falls and took the tram up the side of the mountain to the restaurant.
That summer we rented a Honda 300 motor cycle and went for a ride around that alpine loop.
Mom was great on the motorcycle and I loved it when she held on tight when we leaned over on the turns.
I remembered mom's birthday and Mother's Day with candy, gifts and flowers. Mom cried so I won't post the runny mascara picture.
Carnation, Cards, Screaming Yellow Zonkers (carmel popcorn), perfumes, and garments
Rob graduated from high school.

After a year at BYU we spent the summer in Downey, California and lived in Dr. Hills home through the summer while they were away on vacation. That was the summer of Charles Manson, so we had King in the back yard and a rifle under the bed. We were paid to live there (across the street from mom & dad's home).
Mom used her time to make new clothes for the fall.
During the day I painted dad's home and got paid. We were able to save money through the summer and were prepared for the new school year.
We attended an Elder's Quorum Mexican dinner and had a fun time with a lot of people we didn't really know.
It was a happy summer.
Mom and Dad
We waved good-bye to the family as the left for vacation. There was a twinge of missing a fun adventure, but as usual it was an adventure I'm glad we missed. We had a good summer even without the road trip.
The neighbors let us use their pool when ever we wanted a swim. It felt good after a long day of painting.
Verna was a fun kid a lot like she is now
When we returned to school we moved into Wymount Terrace. It was great to be in the midst of a lot of other young couples that shared the same life situation. We were happy here, because of the housing, but also because Mom was pregnant with Steve at this time.
We put up our real Christmas tree and enjoyed the holiday season in Provo until school was out, then we traveled to California and enjoyed a warm Christmas/New Years with family there.
We returned to California to share our Christmas with mom, dad and the girls.
Family group
Mom had an especially beautiful smile that Christmas.
Mom called to share holiday greetings with her parents and brothers.
It was a good year with the big news... the baby (Steve), was on the way. We saved a lot of money with a rent free summer and with work sufficient to fund the next school year. We celebrated our first anniversary.
